I studied Scandinavian Studies with a focus on Danish in combination with Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. My love for the North, especially the Norwegian fjords and mountains, Danish design and Swedish köttbullar med lingon, led me to study Scandinavian Studies. And the band ABBA, of course.
 
I'm currently living and studying in Denmark, where I've obtained a national language certificate by passing the Prøve i Dansk 3 language exam. Prøve i Dansk are the only state-recognised language exams in Denmark that test and prove a true knowledge of the Danish language. The holder of the certificate is entitled to apply for Danish citizenship and a number of permits and recognition of foreign education.

Among other things, I am a literary translator. My first published work was co-translating the commemorative texts for the exhibition Danish Jews in Terezín, which were subsequently published in book form. I also translated the short story Ørneflugt (Eagle Flight) for the Danish issue of the Czech literary magazine PLAV. 
I have been working in the field of education and language teaching for 6 years. I gained crucial experience working as a language assistant in a primary school for children with a different mother tongue. I started with teaching English and gradually added Danish. I also have experience working in a language school. I teach individual and group lessons, online and in person, in Czech and English. I try to make everyone feel comfortable in my classes, to make the lessons fun and to make sure that students are not afraid to make mistakes. I currently teach dozens of students and have taught hundreds of lessons. Studying at a Danish university has given me a lot of new experiences, perspectives and ideas, which I try to bring into my classes to create the best learning environment for my students.
 
When studying Danish, it is very important to focus on all aspects of the language, and I use different exercises, such as videos depicting everyday language. It is important that students are exposed to real Danish from the beginning of their studies and not just textbook language. Danish realities and authentic materials such as songs, newspapers, etc. are also part of the teaching. It makes me happy to see the students using the language and enjoying their studies.
